About Lequille, Nova Scotia

Lequille is a community in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is classified as a village / hamlet. Lequille is located at 44.7278°N, 65.4904°W. It observes Atlantic Time (UTC−4 / −3). Postal code area: B0S.

Lequille occupies a quiet corner of the Atlantic coast where the land rises steadily toward the prominence of Depot Hill. It lies 2.9 km south-east of Annapolis Royal, NS (from Annapolis Royal, NS: bearing 128°T), and is situated 3.4 km south-south-west of Moschelle. The Allains River carves a dark, insistent path through the terrain, its current reflecting the grey-blue light that lingers over the valley before evening settles in. While First Lake sits tucked away 4 km from the heart of the settlement, the moisture from the coast hangs heavy in the air, softening the edges of the trees and cooling the skin. Lequille maintains a character shaped by the persistent flow of the Allains River, a waterway that once powered the mills essential to early industry. Beyond the quiet industry of the past, the rhythm of daily life here follows the seasonal shift of the tide and the slow growth of the woods. Local traditions hold fast to the legacy of those who first managed the timber and water of this valley, leaving a sense of permanence in the way the houses sit tucked against the rising slopes.
